This article covers many changes made in the last few months.

We’ve received many requests on capturing session duration, and were very pleased to release this as a feature! Account admins can now view session duration along with other session history.
Example of session history on a projected invoice

We’ve also made it easier to track monthly session activity by making session count (by the month and all time) visible again from the “My Account” page, and enabling session history to be downloaded as an Excel spreadsheet.

The monthly PDFs downloadable by admins received a face lift as well–for an example and more information on related changes, please see this updated support article: How does billing work?

Other changes:

  • Individual Free accounts now also have access to screen and file sharing.
  • Account admins can view the number of user licenses remaining on their account from the Account Users page.
  • Added a “Tips and Settings” category to the support center.
  • Added 3 categories to our public listings: Orthopedics, Pain Management, and REI
  • Enabled account admins to turn off notifications to all users on the account. (Notifications/invites to participants are still managed at the time a session is scheduled.)

We always try to stay busy at SecureVideo, but we have been REALLY busy the last few months, and will be implementing the fruits of our labor late in the evening tonight…but we’re just too excited to keep it to ourselves for one more day.

Mobile Friendly Makeover

The first thing you’ll probably notice is our brand new look and responsive design!

The new Dashboard:

The new waiting room page:

Shiny, right? Our favorite part of this change is the increased convenience it provides to hosts:

  • You’ll land on your Dashboard as soon as you log in, with all your session management options in one place.
  • Create and edit sessions/participants direct from your Dashboard–changes are automatically saved.
  • “Add Participants” is more prominently displayed for current sessions.
  • As soon as a participant enters the waiting room, your Dashboard page will automatically scroll to their session for you to connect.

Whew! For a run down of these and other changes, please see our updated support article, How do I navigate my SecureVideo account?

Revamped Branding and Fully Customizable URLs

If you have enabled branding on your account, don’t worry! We’ll ported over your settings to keep that continuity with your own website–and are adding even more options for you to customize. Please see our updated updated article on branding for more information.

We are especially pleased to offer the option (for an additional fee) to customize your URL with the domain of your choice (e.g., allow participants to land on rather than a subdomain of If you are interested in using the domain of your choice, please contact our Sales Team at info[at]securevideo[dot]com.

Schedule on Behalf of Others

Enterprise admins will be able to schedule sessions on behalf of users on their company account, making it easier for your clinicians to focus on seeing patients.

Add to Calendar

To help you manage sessions, you will be able to add your sessions to your personal calendar! Hosts can do this from the Dashboard (and participants can do this from the waiting room page) using the “Add to Calendar” button:

We currently support the following calendars: Outlook, Google, Yahoo, Hotmail, and iCal.

Connect Faster

We removed a confirmation message, so that participants enter the waiting room as soon as they click the “Enter Waiting Room” button.

Host-to-Host Sessions

Enterprise users will be able to schedule sessions with one another directly–new sessions will show up on each user’s Dashboard, and you won’t need to log out to join a session with your colleagues. (To make the transition easier for current Enterprise users, we’ve automatically replaced existing contacts in accounts with the host-to-host equivalent.)

Other changes:

  • We’re making sessions easier to end while on a computer. Simply use the Disconnect Session button at the bottom of your Dashboard.
  • If you submit a request to reset your password, it will only reset once you click on a link in the reset e-mail. (See our updated page on resetting and changing your password.)
  • All support links will take you straight to our revamped Support Center.
  • PLUS and Enterprise: If you choose to add an SMS number to your account, you will receive all session notifications by text instead of e-mail, with an indication you’ll need to log in. (PLUS or Enterprise plans only.)

We’re working on some big projects (spoilers: one of them is about giant changes for your tiny devices!), but we’ve got a mini-release to keep things fresh.

1. The first isn’t code-related, but it’s such a beautiful change, we’ll be trumpeting it everywhere we can. SecureVideo’s support team is now available around the clock by phone at (888) 540-2829, and our orientation hours have shifted to Mondays to Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Pacific Time.

2. Text message invitations now include a direct link to the waiting room page, for the convenience of videoconferencing from a mobile device.

Other changes:

  • Changed the green “Free Account” button on the homepage to say “Create Account”.
  • Allow Enterprise admins to change the password for their users.
  • Session ID numbers now display on the dashboard and on the billing page.
  • Added an API command to set and change user passwords.

This article covers our latest deploy as well as another recent deploy, so it has several major updates we’re really excited about.

1. One such update is support for Android phones! If your device is running Android 4.0.3 and up, you can now use SecureVideo on the go from your phone.

2. Another upgrade that has been requested by our users (particularly speech therapist groups) and has long been in the works is the ability to record sessions. (This feature is currently only available to Enterprise customers, and must be enabled by an account administrator.) There is no additional fee for enabling this feature, and users must indicate when scheduling whether or not the session will be recorded. All recordings will be stored on a HIPAA-compliant, Amazon cloud server. For more details about how to enable, use, view, and share recordings, please see our support article on recording videoconference sessions.

3. While our customers on Windows computers have always been able to share application windows, we have now added the ability to share whole desktops as well. (Don’t fret, Mac users: you can already do this!)

Other changes:

  • Streamlined notifications from our billing system: we will only send an e-mail to our customers if their charge for that month is different from their standard monthly fee, or if the credit card charge fails. If you prefer to always receive notification, please log in and change your settings.
  • As part of our billing system update, we will no longer generate or e-mail PDF attachments. Session history and invoices will only be accessible by logging into one’s account. See our support article on billing for details.
  • Session RSVPs were sometimes being sent twice due to a cookie issue; this has been fixed

We’re happy to announce another feature: customized time zones! Now you can send session invitations and reminders to your participants with the correct time and date for them, even if they are in a different timezone than yourself.

This will be a convenient feature for our mental health and healthcare providers that are licensed in multiple states, or other account holders with customers in multiple timezones. For updated instructions on how to schedule a session, please see this support center article. If you are an API customer or interested in our HIPAA-compliant videoconferencing API, you can see the updated methods for creating sessions here and managing participants here.

  • We increased the limit for company names to 50 characters, and the limit on subdomains to 35 characters.

We have another bundle of new changes, with one feature especially for Windows users: desktop sharing! Previously only a feature for hosts using a Mac computer, hosts on a Windows computer will now also be able to share an entire screen, and resize as needed. For more information, please see our support center article, How do I share my screen?.

We have also added desktop notifications for Firefox and Safari users (previously only available on Chrome). For more information, please see the article, How do I enable/disable popup notifications?.

For users interested in an easy-to-print reference, we have created a Getting Started Guide PDF and added it to our website’s Support tab. This guide shows the basics of using our system: scheduling, starting, and ending sessions, making adjustments to video/audio settings, and an overview of how invitees will enter a session. You can still find the same (and even more) information in our Support Center, but we hope this resource will make it even easier to hit the ground running with SecureVideo.

The last big change is that we’ve added an integration for buy now buttons; for more information, see this support center article.

Other changes:

  • We added a pop-up alert if a host tries to send a reminder to a participant within 99 minutes of the last reminder, warning of a duplicate reminder.
  • We modified the error that appears when an incorrectly formatted phone number is entered for a participant, to confirm that it needs to be 10 digits long and include the area code.

It’s that time again! This mini-release mostly consists of updating our web content. We are hard at work on some larger projects (such as session recordings), but a bit of housekeeping never goes amiss.

One thing that you may have noticed is that we have combined a few tabs together, to free up space on your home bar. Individual plan users will now click on the More tab to access their Calendar and Messages, and Individual PLUS and Enterprise users will use the More tab to access their Calendar, Messages, and Electronic Documents:

Other changes:

  • Renamed the New Session tab in Hub to Home to better reflect its use
  • Added an attestation requirement when editing state/territory licensure in our clinician listings
  • Updated the Messages notification e-mail to include a link to our support article about clinician listings
  • Updated the browser and operating system detector on our download page, to take into account new browser versions
  • Updated our SecureVideo Features page to include our text messaging feature
  • Updated our website footer to include links to our Google+ and YouTube channel pages
  • Removed the Home tab from our website (you can still navigate back to the homepage by clicking on our logo!)
  • Added a tab on our website to provide information about our videoconferencing API, and linked to it from our homepage

It’s been a busy month at SecureVideo, and we are thrilled to roll out this deploy.

One change we’ve really looked forward to is opening our E-Documents feature to all PLUS accounts in addition to Enterprise accounts. This will make it easier for hosts to securely send and receive Statements of Understanding, Releases of Information, etc.

Another feature we’re happy to add is text message option for our paid accounts. Individual PLUS and Enterprise users can now send session invitations and reminders by text message to any phone number within the U.S. or Canada.

To better accommodate text messaging alongside e-mail invitations and reminders, we have also added the ability for all users to manage their contacts. Users are currently able to use our autofill to easily input contact information you have saved from previous sessions. The Manage Contacts tab will make it easier to keep this information up-to-date by providing an interface to view and individually edit/delete names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and default resolution.

That last one is also new! You can now set your participant’s default video resolution when scheduling your session. If you know ahead of time that your participant’s internet connection and/or equipment is good, you can help them preset the resolution to High. If you know ahead of time that you may need to lower the video resolution due to their internet connection or equipment, you can lower it to Standard, or Low. (And of course, you can also always help them change their video resolution settings during the session.)

For more about the general change to how participants are invited to a session, see our updated article, How do I schedule a videoconferencing session?.

The last big change is still a work in progress: video recordings for Enterprise customers. This beta feature is currently only available on Windows computers, but we are working on providing support for Mac computers as well. For more information on how this feature currently works, please see Can sessions be recorded?

Our other changes include:

  • hosts can set their own default video resolution
  • hosts can view their appointments in calendar mode
  • increased password strength requirements
  • non-billable sessions will no longer appear in the session count in the admin panel
  • “maybe” is no longer an RSVP option
  • specified “https://” when displaying an account’s subdomain URL on the branding page
